a place where dwellings, neighborhoods, commons and culture meet all our needs and aspirations. Our purpose is to increase our capability to regenerate Ridge communities with greater harmony and diversity of people, place, and nature. We will explore the interrelatedness of the many Ridge organizations and individuals who are working to revive our community!
The Paradise Revival Festival seeks to commemorate the 2018 Camp Fire by gathering as a community to strengthen relationships, celebrate the spirit of resilience, and co-imagine the future. The Paradise Revival Festival is a collaborative production by organizations of Paradise for the people of Paradise.

FESTIVAL
Representatives were present from several Camp Fire affected communities including the Konkow band of Maidu, who opened the event with a blessing and a dance. Paradise Mayor Steve Crowder gave opening remarks and World Central Kitchen and their director of Emergency Response were present to serve over 500 free hot meals to attendees.
One hundred and twenty pieces of art from youth on the Ridge representing 3 schools were submitted on the theme of: "My Vision for the Future of Paradise." Their perspective and vision was so important at this commemorative event.
The Regenerative speaker forum featured a variety of voices and inspired conversation. Ali Meders-Knight, Director of California Open Lands and Mechoopda tribal member, spoke of the importance of indigenous land management. Paradise Emergency Manager Jim Broshears gave an in-depth analysis of the causes of the Camp Fire conditions that go back 100 years. Regenerating Paradise continued the community input process for the Regenerative Housing Development and hosted round table discussions.
We welcomed the light drizzle of rain which gave reason to celebrate; rain is welcomed, especially when it arrives before November 8th.

Join us as we take a look back at the specific conditions that created the world’s most costly disaster for 2018. Former Cal Fire Division Chief, Jim Broshears will provide context and help us better understand the nuanced interconnected conditions that created the Camp Fire. Jim’s local expert knowledge on the past will better help us understand how we create the safe and healthy community we want. Eliot Hurwitz and Magdalena Valderrama, who were affected by wildfire in the Lake Fire, will share their knowledge of post-disaster community work.

Living with Fire

In Paradise and Camp Fire affected communities the future we were expecting is gone. What is possible now that wasn't possible before? Join us as we explore the potential of Paradise as we live with the reality of wildfire. Ali Meders-Knight, a Mechoopda Tribal member and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Practitioner, will speak about knowledge land stewardship and ecologically-sound responses to living with fire. UC Davis professor Dr. Majdi Abou Najm will speak about regenerative possibilities post-fire. Other speakers will include Jeff Gould and Pamm Larry. Your voice is valuable too. The sessions will conclude with a discussion.

FESTIVAL
On November 7, 2021 members of the ridge community gathering in Paradise's Billy Park for an afternoon for live music, community art, and human connection.
A community organization distributed daffodil bulbs, the official flower and symbol of resilience for Paradise.
Paradise Art Alliance facilitated a "Imagine your Paradise" art project for all ages. Regenerating Paradise provided food and refreshments, including apples from a local orchard.
2020 FESTIVAL
On the 2nd Camp Fire anniversary, Regenerating Paradise produced the 2nd annual Paradise Revival Festival. The event was held virtually, due to Covid-19 precautions. Because of this, displaced Paradise residents and individuals from fire-affected communities from around the world were able to join to share their stories and hopes for the future.
Over the course of two days a lot was uncovered. Namely a deep love for community and the land we live upon. From our conversations we identified key areas of interest where we will be focusing our energy in Regenerating Paradise.

2019 FESTIVAL
On October 12, 2019 members of the ridge community gathering in Paradise for a day-long celebration of resilience. It was organized by our community, for our community, and featured musicians, speakers and activists from our community. In this way we honored our shared journey, imagined the the future, and witnessed one another with songs, laughter, tears, and embraces.
The 2019 Paradise Revival Festival was made possible by the generous contribution of the Paradise Arts Commission- funded through North Valley Community Foundation- and by student volunteers from Chico State University.
